About Us:
My name is Miguel Flores and I participated in the H.O.P.E. academy. When I was invited, I wasn't thrilled about going. I wanted to enjoy my summer vacation instead, but my parents persuaded me to go, and I'm glad I did. It was a great experience for me because I learned so many things and met some great people. H.O.P.E really taught me the steps I needed to take in order to get to the college level. They opened up new avenues for me in regards to scholarships in which I have tried to take advantage of. I also met some great people at H.O.P.E., and I still keep in touch with several of them. Since the H.O.P.E. program, I've been interning at WJOB radio in Hammond, Indiana broadcasting for local high school basketball and football games. I also run my own sports show every Saturday morning. I was accepted to Columbia College Chicago and given a $32,000 scholarship as well as a work study for $20,000. I couldn't have done this without a little help from H.O.P.E. which guided me in the right direction. I hope to continue my success and hope to achieve my ultimate goal of working for ESPN." |
